By Walid
Founded by British-Iraqi designer Walid Damirji, his eponymous label showcases hand-worked pieces made with re-purposed antique textiles. Collections are characterized by traditional English weaving and freehand stippled embroidery in muted tones. These are, if you like, anonymous heirlooms from history, modernized and reinterpreted. Traveling the world, collecting materials like an anthropologist gathers evidence of wild and wonderful things, Walid assembles his medley of: rococo silks, belle epoque passementerie, box upon box of Whitby jet, ancient cashmeres, workwear, school - boy twills, 1920s linens, frothing reams of lace, recycled furs, 18th century ecclesiastical embroideries & Chinoiserie Spanish shawls. A one-of-a-kind result.
