Camiel Fortgens approaches every aspect of ‘creating fashion’ with the mind of a child, in order to produce the most unadulterated (and un-adult-erated) result. Incidentally, working in this bottom-up ‘organic’ way happens to be a preternatural approach in the fashion industry, leading us to consider why we operate along the structures that we do within fashion as well as life at large. Recreating archetypal garments in his own flavor, Fortgens uses his design as a tool to bypass established institutions and re-characterize what it means for something to be beautiful, something to be perfect, something to be fashion.
