YAKU, the brainchild of British designer Yaku Stapleton, merges avant-garde fashion with imaginative storytelling. A Central Saint Martins graduate of Jamaican and Vincentian heritage, Stapleton won the prestigious 2023 L’Oréal Pro Prize for his master's collection, which reimagined his family in a parallel realm. His work reflects elements of Afrofuturism, blending fantasy role-playing aesthetics with contemporary ready-to-wear. Drawing from sculpture, costume design, character creation, and RuneScape, YAKU crafts unique, otherworldly pieces that explore identity and offer a new dimension of self-expression within modern fashion.
