Aberrant feminist designer Charlotte Knowles is all for bringing bedroom-wear outside of the bedroom. Returning to the foundation that is undergarments, Knowles designs complements for the female figure that run more sensitive than sensational, with the unspoken understanding of a woman creating for women. Marbled intimates fastened ghillie-style alongside laser-cut sequins—seditiously blade shaped—exhibit Knowles’ responsiveness not only to the fine details that affect the body, but also to avenues for empowering, sensual exploration of the limits of womenswear. And even though raising a female voice in fashion is not a new idea, Knowles reminds us that is a beautifully imperative one.
