Pawaka
Indonesian designer and environmental activist Fahrani Empel founded Pawaka ("Fire" in Sanskrit) in 2015, crafting a limited run collection for The Store x Soho House. Drawing inspiration from Native American tradition, nature, modernity, and the culture of the Dayak tribes in her homeland, Empel's handcrafted eyewear boasts of high-quality acetate lenses on solid aluminum frames, gaining recognition from Vogue Italia and appearing in countless editorial campaigns. Constructed through European techniques, Pawaka combines innovative design aesthetic with pop culture, a cosmopolitan review of the continuum of time.
