Ludovica Virga founded Mua Mua in 2006 on the coastlines of Bali, Indonesia. A testament that art, design, and humanitarianism go hand-in-hand, Virga's project started as a reaction to the declining tourism industry in Indonesia, creating work for impoverished Indonesians after the country suffered a crippling tsunami in 2004. Three years since its inception, Karl Lagerfeld was gifted one of these handmade dolls, and since then, the brand has expanded into crafting "Raggedy Ann" stylizations of celebrities an artists alike. To this day, that selflessness within Virga is a flame unextinguished, as she continues to produce within Bali while a portion of each sale is given to support a school promoting women empowerment and education.
