For S/S 2020, Yohji Yamamoto incorporates painterly photographic prints
that possess a hauntingly ghost-like quality as their application appears to be
delicately superimposed onto the surface of the clothing. Repetitive tuxedo panels signal
the presence of a double-layered construct, but upon close inspection, the jackets reveal clone
inserts that have been designed to resemble concealed underlays. Although the additional
attachments serve an aesthetic purpose, they can be functionally utilized by mismatching
the buttons on the placket to create a cascading drape along the body.
